Isabella Jia

Isabella is a current student at Duke University and graduated from Stuyvesant High School. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, running, and cooking. As an avid participant in whichever community she finds herself in, Isabella finds joy in helping others and is always looking for ways to give back!

Kaitlyn Cheng

Kaitlyn is a current student at Brown University and graduated from Townsend Harris High School. In addition to meeting new people in volunteer experiences, Kaitlyn is an Instructor at JEI Learning Center, where she strives to provide meaningful learning experiences to younger students. She is delighted to contribute to tand aims to bring impactful learning experiences to others.

Elizabeth Kim

Elizabeth is a current student at Stony Brook University and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. She is an energetic and attentive student who perseveres through everything she does from volunteer work, AP classes, and more! Passionate about political science and history, she was a part of the Law and Society major at Brooklyn Tech, she took several courses like AP US Government, AP United States History, Criminal Law, and Legal Ethics. She also volunteers at the Minkwon Center for Community Action, which serves low income immigrant communities to achieve economic and social justice. During her free time, Liz likes to penpal new friends from all over the world and collect cute stationary. She is very passionate about this program and happy to contribute to the learning of new students.

Derek Dong

Derek is a current student at Macaulay Honors at Hunter College and graduated from Bronx High School of Science. He is a very organized and responsible student who continuously challenges himself with various AP courses in different subjects, and is excited to take three science courses for his senior year which are AP Psychology, Intro to Neuroscience and Animal behavior. Aside from his academics, he is the co-secretary for the Psych and Neuro Club and the Boys Varsity Volleyball Liaison at his school. In his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball with his friends, taking pictures for his Instagram photography account as a way to document his life, and volunteering at Key Club events to give back to his community. He is thrilled to work with other NYC public high schoolers in assisting middle school students with SHSAT prep over this summer.

Co-President

Lilliana is currently a student at New York University. She has been passionate about education for as long as she can remember, and Excelsior Learning’s mission has spoken to her since 2022, when she first became a tutor for the company. Fun Fact: She is a huge Yankees fan!

Co-President

Rou Chen, one of Excelsior Learning’s Co-Presidents has worked with Excelsior Learning as a tutor since its founding, and she is proud to be working with everyone again this year! In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends (work-life balance is super important!), being in nature, and reading. She is at Excelsior Learning because she values giving back to her community in whichever way one can. She is looking forward to working together to make amazing things happen for our students.

Chief of Staff

Tiffany Cheng, one of the Chiefs of Staff for Excelsior Learning this year, loves to run and sleep. She loves nature, the wild, and adventure. She is also very passionate about helping and giving guidance to people which is why she joined Excelsior Learning and has been working with this program since last year! She finds joy and happiness when she knows she has created an impact for her community and she can say that she is proud to be a part of Excelsior Learning and create a bigger impact this year.

Ashley Jeonarine

Chief of Staff

Ashley Jeonarine is a rising senior at Queens High School for the Sciences at York College and one of the Chiefs of Staff for Excelsior Learning. She enjoys reading young adult fantasy novels and she is very passionate about psychology, specifically children based psychology. She chose to join Excelsior Learning as it is a place that allows kids to grow and seek help in their learning journey and that is something that resonates with her!

Jasmyn Pillay

Chief of Staff

Jasmyn Pillay is a rising senior at Townsend Harris High School and one of your Chiefs of Staff for this year. Some things about her is that she is very passionate about robotics and music. When she is not practicing, she spends a lot of her free time playing handball or at the gym. She is a big food enthusiast and enjoys trying new foods. A personal mission of hers has always been to find ways to provide opportunities to inspire the next generation, which is why she can’t wait to work with Excelsior Learning again. She is looking forward to working with and meeting all of you.
